Management Business Solutions (MBS) is seeking a 3rd Shift Laser Welding Technician for a manufacturing client in Grand Rapids, MI. This person will direct manufacturing resources, assure compliance to all processes to improve process quality and productivity capabilities while implementing lean manufacturing initiatives.


Preventative maintenance and repairs to various types of equipment in low volume production and production laser welding
Support production to be able to obtain a first good piece per quality standards
Document and maintain parameters on presses, CNC Machines, and laser weld cells on set-up instructions with supervisor assistance
Create and modify robotics programs and resistance / laser weld programs, while maintaining the welding parameters.
Determine proper weld sequence for cycle time and part dimension improvements.
Participate in, and support lean initiatives such as continuous improvement events and problem-solving events
Oversee Low Volume Production and Laser Welding Production when manager is not present
Support other technicians and operators throughout Low Volume
Support lean initiatives such as continuous improvement events and problem-solving events.
Use and maintain quality tools, and ensure all laser fixtures meet standards
Abide by company policies and procedures, including safety regulations


A high school diploma or GED required
Experience operating manufacturing machinery required
Credits towards an Associate’s degree in Tooling and Manufacturing (or a related field) with specific electives geared towards position required
Experience performing and recording preventative maintenance on all types of equipment required
Experience welding required
Experience with set-up, programming and trouble-shooting of presses, computer numerical control (CNC) equipment, welding programs and robot programs and machinery to resolve machine downtime required
Ability to pass written and practical tests to obtain company forklift/hi-lo and crane license preferred
Experience training others with quality tools preferred
