Texas law firm is interviewing for Title Attorney / Title Attorney Trainee positions in our Midland, Texas office. Upon completion of training, new attorneys will be tasked with title examination and drafting title opinions for our clients. Our clients are oil and gas companies of all sizes. Positions open for bright attorneys who have a good understanding of Texas Oil and Gas law, Texas Land Titles, as well as general Property, Probate and Family Law. Experience in title examination or as a landman is not necessary.
Applicants must be a lawyer and a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas or sitting for the February 2018 bar exam. Applicants must have a desire to live and work in Midland, Texas. Fast learning and high organization skills are required. Applicants must be willing and comfortable to work in a quiet environment free from distractions. No trial work or client contact is associated with this position.
Title examination includes, but is not limited to, searching courthouse indices, building runsheets, reading and examining documents of record (Land Patents, Deeds, Oil and Gas Leases, Lease Assignments, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Divorces, Probates, etc.), legal research, building a chain of title, reviewing well status with the Texas Railroad Commission, and drafting title opinions. This work involves high levels of concentration, a commitment to meet client deadlines, and is not suited for all personality types.
