The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for strategic sourcing of direct materials, managing the performance of commodity products, and sourcing qualifying suppliers locally. The successful candidate will have strong communication and knowledge of contracts and global contract law.
Strategic sourcing of direct materials required for the manufacture of equipment for the electric power industry
Managing the performance of a number of commodity portfolios of direct material suppliers that will serve the manufacturing needs of our company to obtain the best quality, delivery, lead time and competitive cost results
Sourcing and qualifying suppliers locally, within Canada and globally to match our business needs and growth strategy
Assessing new suppliers for business fit, financial stability to ensure that they will provide the best overall value to our company
Ensuring suppliers selected are able to support our strategic objectives
Negotiating with Suppliers to achieve annual cost reduction goals
Conducting evaluations and performance reviews to ensure supplier performance goals are met
Ensuring that the longer-term supplier relationships are solidified through long term agreements or contracts. Create and negotiate supply agreements with long term supplier partners for mutual success
Undertaking commodity and industry benchmarking projects to ensure that we remain at a competitive advantage in the market place
Conducting risk assessment protocols to identify potential concerns
Performing supplier audits to create and manage gap lists and to identify opportunities and threats
Conducting regular comprehensive commercial audits and financial review of the supply base
College Diploma in a technical discipline such as logistics, management or business administration
Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or similar designation (candidates working towards their designation will be considered)
3 to 5 years progressive experience in a purchasing or supply chain environment
Knowledge of contracts and global contract law and industry best practices
Experience with and understanding of the manufacturing processes for industrial products and components
Proficient in MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
Proficiency in Oracle procurement processes is an asset
APICS designation, an asset
The successful candidate will have strong writing and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to present to groups. The candidate must also have demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives
