Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan (AAAWM) has retained Management Business Solutions to be a “value-add” partner to their recruitment for the Finance Director position. As a solution-based staffing organization; we have aligned our processes to mirror Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan’s talent strategies to identify, screen, and recruit qualified candidates.

SUMMARY: The Finance Director is responsible for the successful implementation of financial, accounting and personnel functions and building administration. This role works to achieve Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan’s overall goals and objectives through performance of the essential duties below.


Regular attendance
Financial reporting to funding sources
Active participant of the Management Team
Coordination of all financial reporting from all contractors
Provide technical assistance and training to all contractors in regard to financial accounting and reporting
Financial assessments of all contractors
Maintain and update computer accounting needs and capabilities
Act as Agency’s liaison for matters between employees, the Agency and vendors with regard to claims, information, etc.
Work cooperatively with available financial and clerical staff to best accomplish various accounting and administrative duties, including training and delegating tasks under their responsibilities
Have a vehicle with a current driver’s license and auto insurance in order to conduct the work required by this position
Use independent judgment on decisions related to this position;
Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting Principles
Proficient in Microsoft suite applications with expertise in Excel, Financial Edge software, Fundware, etc.
Minimum of 5 years of Finance and Accounting experience
Self-starter with attention to detail
Organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA certification and licensure

Working Conditions:

General office environment: Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking. The work environment has adequate lighting and temperature control. There are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally completed in an office environment with standard office equipment available.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to read, write and communicate fluently in English. Able to sit at a desk for the majority of the work day; as well as stand, walk, bend and lift up to 30lbs as necessary to complete essential job functions.
