Are you an expert in infrastructure automation, ready to take on a Director-level leadership role?
We are representing a premier Hong Kong enterprise with a massive and complex technology footprint. They are embarking on a major transformation to modernize their IT operations, moving from traditional manual processes to a fully automated, cloud-first future.
This is a rare greenfield leadership opportunity. You will be hired to build and lead a brand-new Platform Engineering team from the ground up. Your mission will be to design, implement, and champion the automation platform that will become the foundation for the entire organization's technology services, impacting systems that serve millions of users daily.
As a Director, you won't just be managing a team; you'll be a key agent of change, setting the strategy and driving the adoption of modern DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles across a large and talented technology division.
What You'll Do: Your Impact
- Build & Lead: Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of automation engineers. You will shape the team's culture, set its direction, and develop its talent.
- Architect & Strategize: Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for all infrastructure automation. You will design a scalable and secure platform using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) that serves both public cloud (AWS/Azure) and on-premises environments.
- Own the Technology Stack: Take full ownership of the core automation tools. You will select, implement, and manage the best-in-class solutions for provisioning and configuration, including Terraform, Ansible, and modern Cloud Management Platforms (CMPs).
- Champion Automation: Act as a powerful evangelist for DevOps principles. You will collaborate closely with engineering, security, and operations leadership to drive the adoption of your platform, transforming how the entire organization builds and manages technology.
- Deliver with Agile: Lead your team using Agile and Scrum methodologies, ensuring a focus on continuous delivery, rapid feedback, and alignment with key business goals.
Who You Are: The Ideal Profile
We are looking for a director who is both a deep technical expert and a skilled people leader.
- Proven Leader: You have 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role where you've successfully built and managed high-performing engineering teams.
- IaC Master: You are an expert in Infrastructure as Code. Terraform and Ansible aren't just tools you've used; they are technologies you have mastered and implemented at an enterprise scale.
- Hybrid Cloud Expert: You have hands-on experience managing and automating infrastructure across both public cloud (AWS, Azure) and traditional on-premises data centers.
- Automation Visionary: You see the big picture. You have experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, YAML) and have a passion for eliminating manual work and building efficient, self-service systems.
- Excellent Communicator & Influencer: You can clearly articulate a technical vision to senior management and inspire other teams to adopt new ways of working.
- Agile Practitioner: You have deep experience leading teams in a Scrum/Agile environment and are proficient with tools like Jira.
Bonus Points for:
- Certifications in Terraform, Ansible, or public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Experience with Cloud Management Platforms like Morpheus or CloudBolt.
