Are you a seasoned Database Engineer ready to bring your deep technical expertise to the cutting edge of quantitative finance? Our client is a technology and data-driven group, implementing a scientific approach to investing, and we are looking for a DBA who thrives in complex, high-pressure environments and views low-latency performance optimization as a personal challenge.
The Challenge & The Impact
As a key member of the global DB team, you will be instrumental in supporting mission-critical systems that drive daily trading decisions across all liquid asset classes worldwide. This is not a typical maintenance role—you will be designing the future of our data architecture and ensuring absolute operational excellence.
What You Will Do:
- Own the Production Stack: Administer, secure, and ensure maximum uptime for our critical, on-premise SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments running on Linux.
- Performance Mastery: Dive deep into database internals and Linux Kernel tuning to achieve bleeding-edge performance and sub-millisecond query responses.
- System Design: Enable business transformation by translating complex quantitative research and trading requirements into robust, scalable database solutions.
- High Availability: Architect and manage advanced solutions for Always-On/High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Capacity Planning.
- Automate Everything: Utilize your scripting expertise (Shell/Python/PowerShell) to manage configurations, security, monitoring, and streamline administrative tasks.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of dedicated experience in production database administration within a demanding, high-volume environment.
- Essential Expertise: Proven mastery in at least two of the following platforms, with a strong preference for SQL Server and PostgreSQL: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
- Operational Depth: must have deep on-premise administration experience on Linux.
- Optimization Guru: Expertise in DB monitoring, analysis, and advanced performance tuning techniques (e.g., query optimization, indexing strategies).
- Experience with database programming (T-SQL, PSQL) and familiarity with BI tools (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS) is a plus.
- A proactive, organized team player with excellent time management skills and a proven ability to work under pressure.
Note on Oracle Experience: Candidates with strong Oracle backgrounds are welcome, provided you are enthusiastic and committed to rapidly mastering PostgreSQL and SQL Server, the primary platforms.
