Our client is a top-tier global banking group with a significant presence in Hong Kong. They are currently investing heavily in their Data Technology space and are seeking a high-calibre Data Architect to join their team. This is a strategic yet hands-on role where you will help build a single comprehensive data cataloguing solution that bridges business processes, data, products, and technology across business units.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Support the wider Data Architecture team in defining and communicating a strategic vision for data architecture, focusing on data governance, integration, modelling, and management.
- Architecture Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Solution Architects, Data Engineers) to translate complex data requirements into actionable, scalable, and secure architecture designs.
- Data Cataloguing & Lineage: Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive data cataloguing solution, ensuring clear data lineage and connections between business processes and data lakes.
- Governance & Security: Establish and enforce robust data governance frameworks, quality standards, and protection measures to ensure data integrity and security across the organization.
- Modernization: Evaluate and recommend new tools and methodologies (specifically within Cloud and Big Data ecosystems) to enhance data architecture capabilities and drive the adoption of industry best practices.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to other architects and team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Language Skills: Strict requirement for fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin (spoken and written) as well as English, to effectively communicate and negotiate with regional stakeholders.
- Cloud Experience: Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is highly preferred. Experience with AWS or Azure will be considered if accompanied by strong data architecture fundamentals.
- Big Data Expertise: Proficiency in Big Data technologies and frameworks is essential, including Hadoop, PySpark, Python, Scala, and ETL tools.
- Architecture Background: Deep understanding of modern data architectures, including Data Lakes, Data Lakehouses, Data Warehousing, and Data Modelling.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with REST APIs and search technologies (e.g., Elastic Search) is a strong plus.
- Industry Experience: A background in Banking or Financial Services is highly preferred. Alternatively, strong candidates with deep AI/ML and data governance experience from other industries will be considered.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical business leaders.
