We are looking for a motivated Junior Data Governance Officer to join our global professional services organization as we establish a new data governance function. In this role, you will collaborate with a supportive APAC team and interact with our wider global team across Europe and the US. Your focus will be on improving data quality, promoting standardization, and ensuring compliance throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the organisation’s data governance framework, ensuring data quality and consistency across datasets.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage documentation to track data flows and maintain consistent terminology.
- Conduct data quality assessments, identify issues, and coordinate remediation plans.
- Build and maintain dashboards and KPIs to monitor compliance with governance standards.
- Leverage Microsoft Purview (or similar tools like Collibra) to catalogue data assets and enforce governance policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
- Support the end-to-end data lifecycle, identifying dependencies to improve delivery, change management, and operational efficiency.
Experience & Skills Required
- 3 years of experience in data governance principles, including data quality, data lineage, roles/responsibilities, and documentation.
- Experience in designing and maintaining dashboards or metrics for governance compliance is a plus.
- Familiarity with data governance tools like Microsoft Purview or Collibra.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, gather requirements, and contribute to practical solutions.
- Basic problem-solving skills focused on identifying and addressing data quality issues.
- Awareness of automation tools or processes to improve data management efficiency.
- Basic understanding of data protection regulations and a willingness to apply them practically.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate documentation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Good communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in a professional services or legal environment is a plus.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Traditional and Simplified Chinese is essential
