Pinpoint Asia is partnering with a prestigious Global Quantitative Investment Manager to find a Technical Lead for their Hong Kong office.
This is a Greenfield Engineering role. The team was formed recently to overhaul the firm's global regulatory architecture. You will not be maintaining legacy code—you will be the technical anchor for the Asia region, building the "Version 1.0" of their Risk and Regulatory Reporting platforms.
Critical Note: This is an Individual Contributor (IC) role for a hands-on technologist. While the role requires senior leadership traits, you must be willing and able to pass a live Python coding interview.
Your Mission
- Build from Scratch: Architect and develop high-availability Python systems for Regulatory Reporting, Risk Management, and Data Compliance.
- Automate Everything: Replace manual workflows with intelligent automation (RPA) and robust data pipelines.
- Lead the Region: Act as the "Adult in the Room" for the Asian time zone. You will be the primary bridge between the Business, Global Compliance, and Engineering, handling complex stakeholder management without hand-holding.
- Ensure Integrity: Own the accuracy of data for complex financial instruments (Derivatives, Swaps, Futures), ensuring the firm operates safely within global markets.
What You Bring
- Engineering Mastery (10+ Years): You are a seasoned developer who has built complex enterprise platforms. You understand system design, scalability, and clean architecture.
- Python Expertise: You have expert-level Python skills. You are comfortable writing production-grade code and can solve algorithmic challenges in real-time.
- System Experience: You have built Risk, Compliance, or Regulatory platforms before. You understand the complexity of handling sensitive financial data, audit trails, and strict reporting deadlines.
- Stakeholder Gravitas: You have the maturity to push back on requirements, manage expectations with non-technical teams, and operate autonomously from the London HQ.
Tech Stack
- Core: Python (Expert), SQL.
- Domain: Experience with financial data / derivatives (highly preferred).
- Bonus: Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools / UiPath / Selenium.
