VAM Systems is currently looking for DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR for our Bahrain operations with the following skillsets & terms and conditions:
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in database related role
Experience supporting AWS
Preferred:
AWS Certification
Skills:
Proficient in database administration, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
Understanding of cloud database operations (RDS snapshots, scaling, monitoring).
Hands-on with Linux administration and shell scripting.
Familiarity with DevOps tools and deployment.
Basic knowledge of data warehousing and BI workflows.
Experience with SQL skills for reporting optimization.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
Good teamwork and communication skills with cross-functional teams.
Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly
Educational Qualification & Certifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Create, configure, and maintain databases for production, development, and test environments.
Perform database installation, configuration, and patching for Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
Support AWS RDS administration including parameter tuning, backups, and maintenance tasks.
Execute daily health checks, performance monitoring, and alert analysis.
Perform backup and recovery operations
Manage database users, roles, and permissions following least-privilege principles.
Implement and monitor security controls including encryption, access logging, and password policies.
Assist in migrations and upgrades
Support incident management by troubleshooting performance and availability issues.
Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization activities.
Assist in documentation of configurations, recovery steps, and maintenance tasks.
Ensure data integrity and consistency through validation and constraint management.
Work closely with system, application, and development teams to support database-related activities.
Follow established change management and release processes (
Participate in DR tests and failover simulations.
Support ETL jobs and reporting databases.
une queries and manage data used by BI dashboards.
Maintain consistency between transactional and analytical systems.
Continuously learn new tools and technologies in the AWS and open-source database ecosystem
