| Description: |
A leading global financial institution is recruiting a product owner to join a strategic technology transformation focused on modernizing valuation, performance, and reporting capabilities for its most sophisticated clients. This role moves beyond traditional project coordination—you will concentrate on system logic, end-to-end data lineage, and financial accuracy as the team transitions from legacy batch processing to real‑time positioning.
What you’ll do
- Own the functional design and business rules for the Portfolio Accounting Engine, including P&L attribution, lifecycle events, and performance calculations for complex instruments (derivatives, cash equities, fixed income).
- Map and validate data flows from trading systems through middle- and back-office processes to client statements; identify and resolve data quality and timing issues to ensure numbers presented to clients are correct and timely.
- Translate nuanced accounting and reconciliation requirements into well-scoped, testable user stories and acceptance criteria for an Agile engineering squad.
- Support testing, validation, and release activities to confirm the production behavior matches the agreed logic and data lineage.
Key challenges
- Converting legacy batch-oriented calculations to real-time position and P&L models while preserving regulatory and client-facing accuracy.
- Ensuring full traceability and reconciliation of data across multiple source systems and transformation layers.
- Balancing technical constraints with business requirements in an Agile delivery environment.
Qualifications
- 8-10 years as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Project Lead within Financial Services—preferably Wealth Management, Asset Management, or Institutional Banking.
- Strong understanding of financial instruments and trade lifecycle (how bonds work, trade flow, P&L calculation).
- Background in Product Control, Fund Accounting, or Finance Change is highly advantageous.
- Curious and hands-on — you enjoy investigating data discrepancies and can clearly explain the “why” behind a calculation.
- Comfortable writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and working within a cross-functional squad.
- Able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and to challenge assumptions constructively.
- Degree in Finance, Business, or IT. CFA or CPA is a plus.
