is seeking a safety-conscious, reliable and physically fit Drill Rig Operator to join its mechanised mining team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a drill rig underground to ensure that marked-off holes are drilled accurately to the required depth and alignment, while maintaining strict safety, quality and production standards. This role suits a disciplined individual who can work well under pressure, follow procedures and contribute positively to team performance. Min requirements Grade 10 / ABET 3 Certificates of competency relevant to drill rig operation Medical certificate of fitness First Aid certificate Must meet the minimum Dover test requirements Ability to work underground in high-risk conditions Good vision, hearing and hand-eye coordination Basic understanding of mine health and safety requirements Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills Job description summary Operate the drill rig safely and effectively underground Drill holes according to marked positions, required depth and correct angle Conduct pre-start inspections and complete daily checklists Report equipment defects, breakdowns and downtime to the supervisor Perform basic maintenance and replace components such as shanks, couplings and related parts when necessary Follow all safety procedures, lock-out requirements, SOPs and COPs Complete risk assessments before work begins Ensure good housekeeping in the work area Submit standard drilling reports and maintain accurate records Work toward achieving shift production targets without compromising safety
