We are currently seeking an Assistant General Manager. We are a Civil Earthworks company, with operations throughout Alberta and Northern BC. The position will be based out of our Edmonton office, and will include the following:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager is responsible for the following:
Overseeing the companies Field Operations, Heath, Safety and Environment initiatives, Recruiting and Purchasing efforts.
Assist the General Manager in the day to day operations of the company.
Support the company culture surrounding Indigenous prosperity initiatives.
Provide leadership and support to all departments and divisions.
This position is part of both the Senior Leadership and Senior Management teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Liaise with the Operations Manager, Estimation Lead and Administration Manager to stay informed of current and foreseeable issues and provide the necessary advice, support and guidance.
Foster client relationships.
Participate in safety reviews, incident investigation, follow-up and project safety related meetings.
In his/her absence, act as the General Manager for the company.
Oversee the preparation of civil construction execution plans for bid / project related support.
Undertake project / bid reviews prior to submission of proposals.
Ensure project needs and requirements are met in a timely and effective manner.
Analyze project metrics for efficiencies, cost savings and company benefits.
Assist with cash flow planning.
Maintain current project progresses and ensure project invoicing is completed monthly.
Support the General Manager with Business Development efforts.
Participate in partnership meetings with the companys regional Indigenous partnerships.
Direct reports include: Construction Manager, Corporate HSE Manager, Recruiter, Purchaser.
B.Sc in Civil Engineering (preferred) or Civil Technology program with appropriate combination of education and experience.
Registration with APEGA or ASET (P.Eng or P.Tech).
15 20 years of previous project management, contract administration and construction supervision experience.
Working knowledge of Indigenous partnerships, strong focus on Health, Safety and Environment.
Class 5 License.
Proficiency with Word and Excel. Familiarity with Pivot Tables in Excel and AutoCad.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be self-motivated, and able to work with minimal or no supervision.
Use and Operation of a Vehicle.
Ability to interact well with, and respond to inquiries from employees, management, clients and Indigenous partners.
Demonstrate leadership abilities.
Excellent organizational and management skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Office (85) / Field (15) Environment.
Extensive use of computer and mobile phone.
Hazards associated with working in an office environment and in a field construction setting.
Normal working day consists of 8 hours however field days may be longer.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
This position will be required to take H2S Alive, TDG, Ground Disturbance, First Aid, CSTS09, WHMIS 2015, Leadership for Safety Excellence and Indigenous Awareness training.
Required to wear appropriate PPE while in field settings.
Must be able to pass Drug and Alcohol testing.
